About

I love to write.

After a Communications degree, I worked in marketing and media for over 20years, writing scripts and a range of content for advertising agencies, television production and marketing teams. I was also a freelance copywriter and contributor the Readers Digest magazine title, ‘Australian Handyman’. My passion, however, has always been reading and writing for children and young adult fiction. I love to perform and read out loud to kids, there’s a magic there.

As a mother of triplets now myself, I love writing quirky picture book stories and poems for them, most of which I have kept in the dark recesses of my desktop but would love to be brave enough to share with the world. I’m getting braver, so you never know.

“I know in books I’ve read somewhere, you chew from limb to limb.

You look so small and friendly, will you bite if I get in?”

“Well, some say piranha bite, but we only like a nip.

So come on girl, the water’s fine, why don’t you take a dip?”

-The Foolish Girl & The Pirahna Fish, by Kate Maxwell

I am currently working on a five YA fiction books in the realm of science fiction and fantasy, one of which was awarded 2nd place at the 2016 CYA Conference in Brisbane in the ‘Aspiring YA’ writing competition, judged by Lisa Berryman from Harper Collins Australia. My picture books have also made the shortlisted into the top three at the CYA Conference for 2020.

You can check some examples of these YA projects on my Work In Progress page.
